As we’ve begun financing the purchase of used EVs, we’re overwhelmingly asked one question: what about the car’s battery health?
It’s a fair question. Like engine miles to a gas car, an EV’s battery health is the top measure of how to determine how “used” an EV really is. Fortunately, our friends at Recurrent Auto offer an incredibly valuable service: a CARFAX for EV batteries.
If you have a specific EV in mind, simply enter that EV’s VIN into Recurrent’s site, and they’ll generate a report documenting how much battery life remains for that battery. (It’s pretty cool how they do it). Spoiler alert: EV batteries are usually good for 200k+ miles, and their range generally decreases about 2.3% per year, so many EV batteries will outlive comparable ICE counterparts (like transmissions).
If you’re already an EV driver, Recurrent offers a free EV Owners App that helps track your battery health and gives you personalized tips to improve range and charging. And if you sell your EV one day, your Recurrent battery health report is invaluable data that can increase the resale value of your EV.
